SINGAPORE'S ORIGINAL POPIAH MAKER SINCE 1938
PLAY with your food and spice up the party with our DIY Popiah Set !
At Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah, we take great pride in our long family tradition of making popiah skin in Singapore. For over 80 years, we have been making popiah skins the traditional way, painstakingly following a family recipe handed down from our forefathers in Fujian province, China.
In the past, our heart of popiah-making operations had always been a pre-war shophouse in the conservation area of Joo Chiat. In 2018, due to worn structural dangers of our ancient shophouse, a Peranakan-themed building have replaced the nostalgic old shophouse we’ve come to known and loved, heralding a new era for our family business.
Today, in our commitment to promote awareness of Singapore’s food culture, we organise regular popiah tours for both local and tourist groups alike. Participants can watch popiah masters twirl dollops of dough in mid-air and coax paper-thin popiah skins out of baked dough on searing hot pans.
We welcome you to step back in time and have a taste of history with our decades-old recipe. Come try our chewy popiah skins and delight in the scrumptious goodness of tasty and juicy popiah fillings. At Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah, popiah skin making is a culinary art and family heritage we are proud to preserve.
